Most of the time, we do things automatically without being there. We are eating while we are thinking about what we are going to do next. We are cooking while we are miles away. We are watching a movie and thinking at the same time about the amount of work to do the next day.
How often it happens to you that during a conversation, your interlocutor ask a question and you reply “sorry, I was not there!” or “I was not listening to you”! And, yes, it can be sometimes embarrassing…
We all have heard about the power of now and how beneficial it is to live in the present. However, no matter how hard we try, we still find it quite not easy!
Two days ago, I challenged myself and decided to focus on every task I was doing. I started with my meditation as usual. At this point, it was not that difficult as the purpose of the meditation is to stay focus. Then, I had my breakfast; I had rice milk, cereals, one banana, crackers and cheese. Later, for my lunch, I ate a lot of vegetables and fruits.
By living in full consciousness, I could not be eating snacks between meals. Well, you might think with such breakfast you can understand that! But still, I make it possible.
While I was preparing my lunch, I made sure that my mind was present at that moment. So, at the end of the day, it only healthy food I could eat.
By being aware of your act, you are in harmony with your “self”. You feel in control of your own life. I truly felt that I could decide to do or to be what I have decided to be if I consciously pay attention of my action.
When you live in full consciousness, you understand and act. However, when you do things mechanically, you react.
In his book, Awareness, Osho, teaches how to live life more attentively, mindfully and meditatively, with love and consciousness.
With some more effort and consistency, I can make it possible more regularly and it is really up to me!
What about you, would you try more often as well?
